There it is, a beautiful and perfect rug in our living room. We did move a few rugs over from Finland but as I was expecting a house with carpets I didn't even think we'll be shopping for more rugs. But as it happens we have only one room with a carpet and the wooden floors are very cold during the winter we needed a large rug to the living room. I have been looking the rugs for a while but this was the one I fell in love with. I found the rug in the Anthropologie online shop and was a bit afraid how it's going to look as I I could see it only in the pictures online. Luckily the colors and design was perfect and I'm so happy I ordered it! I think also I won't get bored of these color tones for long time so it should also be a longterm investment.
Our livingroom here (or actually there's two of them) is much bigger than in our previous home and we would still need to find a sofa or some more seats. Another new thing we had to get was the bookshelf to storage all kind of vases and things. This white one is the Fjälkinge shelf from IKEA. The magnolia branches I saved from neighbor's gardener and now they are blooming beautifully! Even if I miss home it's also fun to decorate a new house. Now anyway have to think about something else than home as it's almost spring break and we are heading to San Francisco for holiday!

No siinä se on, ihana ja täydellinen uusi matto. Meillä muutti jonkin verran mattoja mukana Suomesta tänne, mutta koska olin alustavasti varautunut kokolattiamattoihin en ajatellut meidän edes tarvitsevan lisämattoja. Kävi kuitenkin niin, että talossamme on vain yksi kokolattiamatollinen huone ja talvella varsinkin lattiat ovat kylmät. Huoneetkin ovat sen verran isompia kuin Suomen kodissa, että isompi matto oli tarpeen. Täällä päin kyllä Ikeakin myy mattojaan valtavan kokoisina, mutta nyt päätimme sijoittaa vähän enemmän mattoon toivoen, että se on sitten myös pitkäaikaisempi hankinta.
Matto löytyi Anthropologien nettisivulta ja kieltämättä oli aika jännittävää ostaa värikästä isoa mattoa nettikuvien perusteella, mutta onneksi tällä kertaa sävyt olivat juuri hyvät! Matto tuli olohuoneeseemme, joka kaipaisi vielä lisää istumapaikkoja, sohvaa tai nojatuoleja. Sohvamme meni ns. toiseen olohuoneeseen, jossa meillä on mm. tv. Toisen sohvan hankinta tuntuu hassulta, mutta jotainhan isoon huoneeseen on keksittävä. Hylly meidän pitikin jo hankkia, jotta sai vähän lisää säilytystilaa kipoille ja kupeille. Tämä sopivan yksinkertainen on IKEA:n Fjälkinge sarjaa. Onneksi kuitenkaan ei ole kiire minnekään niin voi miettiä kalustehankintoja rauhassa.
Magnolian oksat pelastin naapurin puutarhurin auton lavalta ja nyt ne kukkivat ihanasti! Kotihommat hetkeksi sikseen, sillä kohta täällä on spring break ja lähdemme parin päivän päästä San Franciscoon lomalle!
