autumn colours

Huomiseksi luvattiin taas sadetta. Toivottavasti saisimme kuitenkin muutaman aurinkoisen hetken, jolloin syksyn värit taas heräävät eloon! Mukavaa viikonlopun jatkoa teille ♥

I love the summer, but always the autumn has been my favorite time of the year. The autumn colours and fresh wind inspire me, that rain and grey weather not at all. They promised rain for all day tomorrow. I really wish we'll get even little bit of sunshine too to see the autumn colours come alive! Have a great rest of the weekend you all ♥

September

September starts to feel like a real autumn now. It's raining day and night and the leaves on the trees are starting to be yellow. Our little girl is quite tired after coming home from the daycare. When we get home she just wants hugs and sits in my arms while we read books and just be together. Luckily now all is going well with the daycare and she's happy to go there. In the beginning we had one and a half weeks of crying and that was hard for us all. I was afraid the difficult mornings could last for much longer, but I'm happy Mimi got used to the new friends and the place so quickly. Now at home she's just smiling and telling the names of all the boys in her group!

Helsinki made of wood

This Helsinki Made of Wood block set is an official World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 product that lets you build some well known landmarks of the city or build your own versions of them. We've seen these in few blogs already and now got them for us too as I found them while going around the Helsinki Design Week happenings. You'll find a great interpretation of them for example in Kasper Strömman's Design Blog. The colors are definitely cool but the finishing quality is quite rough and also because of the small parts they are not recommended for kids under 3 years. Well, we had to play with them anyway and more in the level of: "tour, house, stairs, bridge and three".

something red

My week has been crazy busy. Work, design exhibitions and just being a mom takes definitely some energy. Here's one post a week late, some of the things I found in Helsinki Design Market. The Marimekko scarf from last year's winter collection makes me feel like a bit of christmas already and maybe it needs first some snow around. The print is by Polkka Jam and will find it's place somewhere in the kitchen. The little miss loves dressing and undressing socks at the moment, I just noticed that her cool sock combination form the photos!

Above - Helsinki Design Week

Here's few snapshots from our yesterday's design exhibition tour to the Helsinki Design Week 2012 main exhibition Above (8.9-16.9.). The exhibition is held in the Old Customs warehouse in Katajanokka Helsinki. Above features international design and designers of furniture and interior design. As also the first floor of the building is now first time opened to public the exhibition is much larger and spacier than last year. Of all these many beautiful things something that caught my eye was the almost ascetic wooden Valo pendant lamps by finnish Susan Elo (third photo from top) that really inspired me with their pure simplicity.
